Digital evolution (or revolution?), inventory solutions, compliance, standardization…what do all these things have in common? They are top of mind for many in the auction and remarketing industry as we approach Used Car Week 2018, Nov. 12-16 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

And the second block of Used Car Week — the National Remarketing Conference and the National Auto Auction Association Convention — is specifically designed to address these topics and more. In other words, we want to make sure to cover the trends that are directly impacting today’s auto auction industry and your businesses.

And of course, the winds of change are high in the auction world. Think digital auctions versus brick and mortar, growing upstream options for dealers, the next generation of auction employees, and larger economic and residual trends, as well as the effect of these trends on the lanes.

Last year, the NRC + NAAA portion of UCW brought together an impressive bunch of auction leaders, including 535 professionals ranging from auction owners and GMs to those just entering the industry. The second block of the event drew a total of 834 attendees in 2017.

And our makeup of NRC speakers is just as diverse as our attendees (check out the latest attendee list, sponsored by MVTRAC).

For those looking to stay abreast of the latest innovation in both the physical and digital auction spaces, as well as perspective from independent auctions and large houses like Manheim and ADESA, our agenda has something for every corner of the biz.

Speaking of innovation, don’t miss our “Innovators: The Next Generation of Used Cars,” panel on Thursday, which will explore the latest buzz in the lanes, including cryptocurrency, ecommerce, online auctions and more. This panel, sponsored by AutoVin, will feature execs from Cox Automotive, Bridgecrest, ACV Auctions, McConkey Auction Group and KAR Auction Services.

And if you want to hear from execs you may have helped vote into their latest position, learn from your trade association leaders during our National Panel, also scheduled for Thursday, featuring leaders from NAAA, NIADA, NAF and IARA.

And consignors — take note! You won’t want to miss out on our “State of the Used Car Industry” discussion led by Used Car Week’s own chair Bill Zadeits. This discussion, sponsored by ServNet, will bring together execs from Ally, Bridgecrest, Subaru and ARI Fleet.

And to close out the second block of Used Car Week sessions, don’t miss a discussion led by AutoTec’s Chuck Redden, between some of today’s top auction leaders, including ADESA’s John Hammer; Cox Automotive’s Grace Huang; Eric Autenrieth from ServNet/Carolina Auto Auction and Indiana Auto Auction; Larry Hero, America’s Auto Auction; Cam Hitchcock, XLerate Group; and Steve Kapusta, Ally SmartAuction.  This session, sponsored by AutoTec, serves as an update from a leadership perspective on the future of the auction industry, and panelists will offer their takes on wholesale values, volume and trends, as well.

The special general session, sponsored by NAAA Services Corp., on tap for NRC + NAAA will focus on another growing industry concern: Cybersecurity. Holly Hubert, retired FBI Special Agent and Founder and CEO of GlobalSecurityIQ, will hone in on Cybersecurity for your business by exploring examples of actual FBI cases, not shared with the public.

And these are just some of the examples of our big panel discussions and general session offerings. The NRC conference also features two days of concurrent workshops we think will offer you plenty of takeaways for your business. To get a full rundown, check out our agenda. But to give you a taste of topics covered by our expert workshop speakers, see here: wholesaling imperfect vehicles, client experience, wholesale and residual values, managing auctions in 2018, loss mitigation for auctions and floor planners, the auction talent shortage, industry evolution and more.

Want a sneak peek into one of the NRC workshops? Check out this Auto Remarketing feature on Amanda Looney, IAA; and Will Farmer, TradeRev, and their workshop focused on attracting the next generation of auction employees.

Make the trip to Scottsdale this year, and hear from fellow auction professionals, lawyers, tech experts and more, on how to navigate the lanes and the lots in 2018.
